Saturday Graverites!

Tron (1982) : I figured that this was a good pick for today since A. I love this movie, B. I just watched it again for the millionth time Friday night and C. I am going to the Imax to see Tron Legacy later tonight. This was a Disney sci-fi film written and directed by Steven Lisberger from the 1980'sIt stars Jeff Bridges as the protagonist hacker Kevin Flynn, Bruce Boxleitner as security program Tron (and Tron's "user", Alan Bradley), Cindy Morgan as program Yori (and her "user", Dr. Lora Baines), Barnard Hughes as the tower guardian Dumont (and his user, Dr. Walter Gibbs), Dan Shor as Ram, David Warner plays all three main antagonists: the program Sark, his "user", Ed Dillinger, and the voice of the chess program artificial intelligence Master Control Program. It had a budge of $17,000,000 and grossed about $33,000,000. The whole idea for this movie started with Steven Lisberger fascination with Pong. It is about Kevin Flynn who is a former employee of the software corporation ENCOM, now running a arcade. Flynn has been trying to hack into ENCOM's mainframe computer to find evidence that ENCOM's senior executive Ed Dillinger stole four video games he created. But Dillinger's supercomputer "Master Control Program" foils Flynn's efforts and dictates and controls most of the computer systems. One night, Flynn's former girlfriend Lora and her boyfriend, ace computer programmer Alan Bradley helps Flynn break into ENCOM to shut down the MCP with Alan's security program "TRON". But MCP uses Lora's matter transmission program and converts Flynn into data and sends him into the computer. Flynn finds himself in a electronic world ruled by the MCP and his evil chief henchman Sark, where computer programs are the alter-egos of their creators and are forced to compete in gladiatorial games. With help from Tron, a heroic and fearless security program and his lover, Yori, Flynn sets out destroy the MCP and help Tron liberate the system from the MCP's control, by destroying the MCP is Flynn's only way of returning to the real world. Tron spawned into a franchise, which consists of multiple video games, comic books, an animated television series, toys and a sequel. This is a perfect movie for video game and sci-fi lovers.
