Sharks!

Well being I am a huge nerd for Shark Week I decided I needed to do a quick Shark Week post! Yes there are tons of great/cheesy horror movies based around sharks but here are my favorites...

Jaws (1975) : A Great White Shark decides to make the small beach resort town of Amity his private feeding grounds. This greatly frustrates the town police chief who wants to close the beaches to chase the shark away. He is thwarted in his efforts by the town's mayor who finally relents when nothing else seems to work and the chief, a scientist, and an old fisherman with revenge on his mind take to the sea to kill the beast.

Jaws 2 (1978) : Four years after the events of the original "Jaws", the town of Amity suddenly experiences series of mysterious boating accidents and disappearances. Chief of Police, Martin Brody, fears that another shark is out there, but he is ignored by the townsfolk. Unfortunately, he's right. There is another Great White in the sea. And it wants revenge.

Jaws 3-D (1983) : This third film in the series follows a group of marine biologists attempting to capture a young great white shark that has wandered into Florida's Sea World Park. However, later it is discovered that the shark's 35-foot mother is also a guest at Sea World. What follows is the shark reeking havoc on the visitors in the park.

Jaws: The Revenge (1987) : In the States, police chief Sean Brody is eaten by a shark. His widowed mother, Ellen, becomes convinced that the shark, hunted down years ago by her husband, is nursing a vendetta against the entire Brody clan. She flees with her son and his family to his home, where he is a marine biologist. The shark follows the family, intent on their destruction. Ellen tries to keep her family safe and kill the shark, while a local pilot romances her.

Tintorera! (1977) : Two shark hunters flirt with an attractive British lady while hunting down a large tiger shark terrorizing the Mexican East coast.

Great White (1981) : An enormous and angry 35-foot Great White Shark begins attacking humans when they build a beach just for swimmers by Port Harbor, a coastal town. Despite repeated attacks, the mayor does nothing to stop it as he doesn't want tourists to hear about it and stop coming. Enter the heroes: Peter Benton, a novelist who wrote a book about sharks, and Ron Hamer, an old seadog who has a personal grudge against this shark and wants it dead. They set sail in order to stop the monster.

Deep Blue Sea (1999) : Doctors in an underwater laboratory discover a chemical in the brains of sharks capable of reviving human brain cells. Using gene therapy the doctors create sharks with larger brain masses as a way to speed up the production of the life saving antidote. The result is a breed of Mako that is bigger, stronger, smarter, faster and more fierce then anything man has seen before. The sharks gain the ability to reason and turn on their masters resulting in an all or nothing fight to the finish between man and the ultimate predator.
