Fangoria Frightfest!
So I was really excited about the Fangoria Frightfest movies coming out. We choose to watch Pig Hunt first, which was directed by James Isaac. Def. a good choice to start with. It did start off a little slow but not in a bad way. When it did start to pick up it got really really good. The special FX are way better than I though they would be and the giant wild pig is pretty realistic. This has everything a good horror/monster movie needs, gore, good characters, a good monster, some hillbillies and boobs. The casting was awesome and Les Claypool (I'm a big fan) plays a hillbilly preacher. A guy named John takes his San Francisco friends to his deceased uncle's remote ranch to hunt wild pigs, it seems like a typical guys weekend hunting, despite the presence of John's girlfriend Brooks. But as John and his crew trek deeper into the forest, they begin tracking the awful truth about his uncle's demise and the legend of The Ripper (a murderous three-thousand-pound black wild pig). Their pursuit leads them through fields of marijuana and into the muddy landscape of Big Wallow, involving high-powered weaponry, the violent and unpredictable Tibbs Brothers, massacred emus, a machete-toting Hippie Stranger, vengeful rednecks, and throat-slitting Cult Girls who grow dope by day and worship a Giant Killer Pig by night. I really never expected to like this one as much as I do. I give this one a 9/10 and def. recommend watching this one. The soundtrack is amazing!
