Saturday Graverites!

The Blair Witch Project (1999; 86 brain eaters) : I know not everyone likes this movie and I can understand it. But what can I say I like it a lot. Written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez with a budget of $22,000.  It is presented as a documentary pieced together from amateur footage, filmed in real time. The film stars Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams. These three young filmmakers hike into the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland to film a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch, many children have vanished in the 1940s and people still avoid going too deep into the woods. So, the party sets out to look for facts that prove the legend, equipped only with two cameras and a little hiking gear and then subsequently go missing. They tell you that their film and sound equipment with the footage of course was found and that is pretty much what you get to see. It starts off as your normal documentary and than all this crazy stuff starts to happen. First, they find little piles of stone that must have been arranged artificially, later, they have to admit to be lost in the woods. Eerie sounds at night and more piles of stones in places where they have not been before cause the already desperate group to panic. And one night, days after they should have been back home, Josh disappears completely. And than it just ends... perfect for a Fall movie night grab some popcorn and enjoy!

I think my problem with this one, besides the shaky cam, was that it was hyped as super scary and I didn't really find it all that scary. You have to respect how ahead of its time it was with both the internet marketing and the documentary angle.

I agree with shaky cam, I hate shaky cam movies for the most part. I didn't find it scary at all but def. like where they were going, it opened the market for great movies like Clover Field, Rec. and what not.
