Burning Bright (2010) : Honestly I didn't know what to expect with this one. I read the back and though the plot sounded kind weak but also kinda grabbed me at the same time. I actually enjoy this one a lot. It has a really simple concept with a good cast and great plot. It is a horror/thriller with no crappy special effects which is nice. Kelly feels her life is unraveling. Her mother’s death has left her as the guardian of her autistic 12-year-old brother, Tom, and she’s just learned her stepfather pilfered her college fund to buy a tiger for his safari park. To make matters worse, a hurricane is cutting a swath of destruction toward her home. But Kelly has something greater to fear than the hurricane’s 120-mile-per-hour winds – the savage tiger has somehow slipped inside her house. Now, trapped inside their boarded-up home, Kelly and Tom must fight for their lives against a deadly man-eater who smells their fear…and wants their flesh. I give this one an 8.5.
The Killer Inside Me (2010) : Again a movie I wasn't expecting so much from it and it ended up being amazing. I was not expecting how brutal this movie was going to be. I mean it is not your over the top gore drenched brutality but your honest to god human nature brutality. I am not a fan of Casey Affleck but honestly he did a good job but the rest of the cast was great as well. And just when you think the movie can't get any better it ends with this crazy amazing ending. Set in 1950s Texas, the story centers on Lou Ford, the deputy doesn't lack for compassion, but a twisted childhood drives him to inflict pain. He's also a pathological liar, though a union leader and an attorney have their doubts. When Joyce, a hooker, gives him a hard time, Ford slaps her around, apologizes, and then falls for the feisty lady, even though his boss, on orders from a construction magnate, asked him to escort her out of town. Plus, Lou already has a girl, schoolteacher Amy, so he finds a more expedient way to push Joyce and other inconvenient individuals out of the picture. He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and his slip-ups outnumber his successes until he comes up with a plan to solve his problems once and for all. This one gets a 10.
