Saturday Graverites!

Evil Dead (1981; 85 brain eaters) : This is one of my favorite movies of all time that I can quote 90% of. It was written and directed by Sam Raimi and stars Bruce Campbell, Betsy Baker, Theresa Tilly, Hal Delrich and Ellen Sandweiss. Five friends go to a cabin in the woods for a vacation. They discover The Book of the Dead and a tape recorder belonging to a professor, who also owns the cabin. One of them plays back what is recorded on the tape, which just happens to be Kandarian resurrection passages translated from the Necronomicon (Book of the Dead) by the professor, which unleashes an evil force from the woods. The people start turning into evil deadites (zombie/ demon vessel), and the others soon learn from the tape that the only way to kill a person who is turned into a deadite is by total body dismemberment. People start dying and Ash needs to save the day. The film was extremely controversial for its graphic terror (gore, girl being raped by tree, ect.) and had a hard time being released but now the movie has a cult following and has spurred on a comic book mini-series, games, toys, a musical and more. There are also two sequels Evil Dead II and Army Of Darkness. Well grab some soda and popcorn en enjoy Saturday Graverites!
