Happy Valentines Day!

Well today is Valentines Day so that means horror movie time. Here are some movies perfect for today.

The original My Bloody Valentine! I love this one so much, it is actually in my top ten favorite horror movies of all time. Great casting and amazing story line. On Valentine's Day 20 years before, an explosion of methane gas took the lives of a group of coal miners working in the Hanniger Mine near the small Nova Socia town of Valentine Bluffs. The accident occurred because supervisors left their posts to attend the annual Valentine's Day dance. A year afterward, Harry Warden - the only survivor of the accident - retaliated by killing the two supervisors, and leaving a terrifying warning never to hold another Valentine's Day dance. Now, a group of young adults decides to hold another dance, despite warnings. When a blood-soaked heart arrives at the police station, accompanied by an ominous message, the dance is canceled. But a Valentine party is held in its place... at the coal mine, and it isn't long before the town's young people begin dying violently. It appears Harry Warden has returned to punish those who did not heed his warning.

Than you have My Bloody Valentine the remake. It is def. not as good as the original but I do like this one as well. The casting was pretty good for the most part and the story line isn't so bad. In the mining town of Harmony, a drilling accident is caused by the son of the owner, Tom Hanniger. The mine collapses, burying six miners alive. The rescue team finds only Harry Warden alive, but in coma, and the other miners murdered by his pickax, and they conclude that Harry killed them to save oxygen for himself. On Valentine's Day, Harry awakes from his coma in the local hospital, and he kills twenty-two people, including a group of teenagers that are partying in the mine. Harry is killed by the deputy, but the only survivors are Tom Hanniger, his girlfriend Sarah, their friend Axel Palmer and his girlfriend Irene. Ten years later, Tom returns to Harmony after the death of his father. Tom has decided to sell the Hanniger Mine, and finds that Sarah has married Axel, who is now the local sheriff, and they have a son named Noah. On Valentine's Day, Harry Warden also returns, seeking revenge against those that had escaped his pickax in the past, and Tom is accused by Axel and other locals, who in turn makes accusations against Axel.

And of course we have the movie Valentine. It is not your best horror movie by a long shot but I still enjoy this one. Especially the cupid mask, I think it is a good touch. Not the best cast and the story line is pretty ok. It is the late 1980's, at a high school dance, young nerdy-looking Jeremy Melton is spurned & insulted by every girl he asks to dance, except one named Dorothy. Later they start making out under the bleachers until a group of bullies discover them, and Dorothy says Jeremy attacked her. The boys further humiliate Jeremy by violently assaulting him & pulling off his clothes. About 12 years later, those same girls are in their twenties and enjoying the dating scene. But Jeremy has mysteriously disappeared. After one of the girls, Shelley has a date with an arrogant loser, she is savagely murdered in her medical school's anatomy lab by a tall, sinister man dressed in a dark coat and wearing a cherub mask. Just before her death, Shelley received a threatening Valentine's Day card. The other girls soon start receiving similar cards shortly after, and one at a time, they start dying violently. When police inform them that Jeremy Melton has not been seen or heard from for many years, Dorothy speculates that he may have had plastic surgery and worked out to change his appearance. Kate has recently found herself a new boyfriend but Dorothy suspects he may in fact be Jeremy, using his new look to get close to the girls who spurned him so many years before...and seeking revenge.

There is also a movie called Lovers Lane. Thirteen years ago, on Valentines Day, two young lovers were brutally murdered at the local lovers lane. The killer, a maniac wielding a steel hook, was arrested by the police and incarcerated in a nearby state institution for the criminally insane. But the murders left a permanent mark on the two families. The dead lovers were married..... but not to each other. A psychiatrist has devoted the last thirteen years to keeping the killer behind bars, as at the time of the murders the killer (AKA The Hook) was his patient. Now it's Valentines Day and 'The Hook' has escaped and it's time for him to kill his victims' children.

Of course there are more lovey dovey horror movies out there but here are just a few of my favorites! Hope everyone has a gortastic day!
