Friday!

I wasn't going to do a post just because I would much rather be eating snacks and watching horror movies since it is the perfect Fall Friday night for that. Than I realized I haven't done a movie review in forever. This year has ruined me and I have been slacking hardcore. I have probably seen at least 40 new movies that I haven't reviewed. But I really am trying to get back to normal, it's just taking way longer than I wanted. The main reason I felt like doing a movie review tonight is because last night I watched Chromeskull: Laid To Rest 2.
I remembered when the first Laid to Rest came out. I was super excited about it and it ended up being really good for a new horror movie. It is really hard to find really good new horror movies anymore, either they are remakes, the same old story not done very well or just a pile of junk. Laid to Rest had that old school feel but updated. So since I really liked that one I was stoked they were doing another one. Well I went into this movie with high hopes. When it started it picked up right where the other one left off, I really liked that because that is what old school horror sequels did. But right after that it got kinda boring and than weird in a bad way. 30 minutes in I was like what the heck is going on. It did start to pick up and keep my attention, I even got over the weird turn it took. Once the movie ended I figured ok I can give this one about a 7.5-8 even though I wasn't 100% down with where they took the story. But than the scene after the credits happened and just made me mad. They took this ruthless killer, over humanized him, gave him "a crew" and took the story in a weird direction. Maybe once they make the third one and explain a little more the second one won't seem so bad. But it wasn't horrible, I'll of course watch it again and maybe it won't be so bad.
The story line picked up right after the original one ended and than it jumps to three months later. Tommy is struggling to come to terms with his encounter with Chromeskull  and the lost of his best friend. After a girl named Jess is reported missing the police bring Tommy in to identify a picture of Chromeskull and hopefully help them put a stop to Chromeskulls games. Right after that Tommy goes missing courtesy of the maniacal Preston, a strange guy with a connection to ChromeSkull. Now it's up to Detective King to race against the clock to find her and Tommy before it's too late. I will give this one a 7 for right now but it is possible that it may change once I watch it again

30 Day Horror Challenge : Day 23 - Your favorite made for TV horror film :

My favorite made-for TV horror film is probably The Dark Night of the Scarecrow. When I first started dating the Mister he introduced this movie to me and I fell in love. I think this is one of the the all time best made-for Tv horror films ever made. The story line is based around a supernatural vengeance motif but not in the boring way. This film was directed by Frank De Felitta who wrote The Entity (another amazing movie). The Dark Night of the Scarecrow definitely has the creepy feeling and you know it's justified and well deserved. I think anyone who hasn't seem this film should take the time to check it out!
