The Amityville Horror (2005 remake ; 94 Brain Eaters) : Another graverite that is a remake, but what can I say I think that this is a pretty great remake. This film was directed by Andrew Douglas. It is a remake of the 1979 film of the same name which was based on the 1977 novel of the same name by Jay Anson. The novel documents the alleged experiences of the Lutz family after they moved into their house. This film stars Ryan Reynolds as George Lutz, Melissa George as Kathy Lutz, Jesse James as Billy Lutz, Jimmy Bennett as Michael Lutz, ChloĆ« Moretz as Chelsea Lutz, Philip Baker Hall as Father Callaway and so on. They had a budget of 90 million and grossed over 100 million. MGM claimed the remake was based on new information uncovered during research of the original events, but George Lutz later claimed nobody ever spoke to him or his family about the project and only a few of the paranormal phenomena are true. Jodie DeFeo", who appears as a prominent character in the film, is a fictional character and was not one of the victims of the shootings by Ronald DeFeo, Jr. in November 1974. But on the DVD it is said she was based on the youngest Defeo child, Allison. But all and all I love the original but I really enjoy the remake just as much.
On November 14th, 1974, police received a frantic phone call that led them to the DeFeo residence, where they made a grisly discovery- 6 bodies, the entire DeFeo family, all slaughtered with a .35 caliber as they slept calmly in their beds. Ronald DeFeo confessed to methodically murdering his parents and four siblings, and claimed it was the "voices" that told him to do it. One year later, on November 18, 1975, George and Kathy Lutz along with their three children moved into the house, thinking it was going to be their dream home. Especially if their dreams were nightmares. The Lutz family only lasted twenty eight days in their home after they were terrorized by a demonic force that drove them away. Based on the true story of George and Kathy Lutz.
