Serial Mom (1994 ; 95 Brain Eater) : A clever black comedy written and directed by John Waters. This story is completely fictional even though at the beginning of the film it states other wise. The budget was $13 million and grossed close to $8 million. Just like all of John Waters other films this one has a great cast starring Kathleen Turner, Sam Waterston, Ricki Lake, Matthew Lillard (his first film), Justin Whalin, Mink Stole, Mary Jo Catlett, Scott Wesley Morgan, Walt MacPherson, Traci Lords, and so on. Plus you get a few great cameos, of course a cameo from John Waters as the voice of Ted Bundy and L7 plays as the band Camel Lips. The body count is 7. This is one of those great movies if your in the mood for it.
A picture perfect middle class family is shocked when they find out that one of their neighbors is receiving obscene phone calls. The mom takes slights against her family very personally, and it turns out she is indeed the one harassing the neighbor. As other slights befall her beloved family, the body count begins to increase, and the police get closer to the truth, threatening the family's picture perfect world.
*Fun Fact: Movies from Russ Meyer, Otto Preminger, William Castle, and Herschell Gordon Lewis are seen playing on television sets throughout the film.
