Yes I have been lacking in the movie reviews lately but honestly I haven't been watching so much new stuff and working on Halloween stuff. I have been mostly watching old horror movies that I have reviewed in the past and don't want to bore you with the same old stuff. But I watched a new movie that I fell in love with and had to share!
Suck (2009; 90 brain eaters) : I first read about this in Fangoria and was a little unsure at first. Even when we started to watch it I was unsure, didn't know if I liked it, loved it, hated it or what. Then out of nowhere it hit me that I was in love with a new movie. It is really hard to make me honestly smile and this one had me smiling the whole time. Yes it is way over the top with cheese (the cheesiest of cheese) but is totally meant to be. It is your basic horror comedy with an awesomely amazing cast. Malcolm McDowell, Michael Lobel, Alice Cooper, Moby, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Dave Foley, ALex Lifeson, and so on to just name a few. Written and directed by Rob Stefaniuk. This movie follows a petty rock band called the Winners, consisting of vocalist Joey Winner (Rob Stefaniuk), bassist Jennifer (Jessica Paré), guitarist Tyler (Paul Anthony), drummer Sam (Mike Lobes), and French-Canadian roadie Hugo (Chris Ratz), and their sleazy manager Jeff (Dave Foley), as they tour across Canada and the USA getting no where. Then after Jennifer is turned into a vampire by Queeny (Dimitri Coats) after a show one night, people start paying attention to the band and their website is getting tons of hits. One by one Jennifer turns the band members into vampires and Hugo has to clean up all their messes. Meanwhile, a vampire hunter who is afraid of the dark named Eddie Van Helsing (Malcolm McDowell) quickly chases them down so he can find Queeny and get revenge on him for killing his girlfriend in the 70's. Hugo is my favorite part of this movie. I can honestly say this will become one of those movies I watch for no reason all the time. Yes it is not the best movie ever made but I give it a 10! Check it out if you get a chance, def. worth it if you are in the mood for some not so serious, serious cheese.
