MOVIES!

Gentlemen Broncos: This movie was good. It had a good feeling and I found it very entertaining. The casting was great and the story line is funny. From the folks behind Napoleon Dynamite. Benjamin, a self-conscious, home-schooled teen whose aspirations of being a science-fiction writer are played out Walter Mitty-style. His doting mother treats him to a weekend at a writing camp, where Benjamin meets his idol, sci-fi author Ronald Chevalier. Benjamin submits his "Yeast Lords" manuscript to Chevalier for the big-time writer's approval. But Chevalier is struggling for a hit book and he promptly plagiarizes Benjamin's work. It is just off the wall strange with a strange cast of characters. I give this one an 8.

The Box: I think this was a good one. I can see people not liking it so much but I liked it. It def. sucks you in and keeps your attention. I think the cast was great and the story line was amazing. Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world, someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity. I give this one a 9.

Nine Dead: This one was pretty good. I mean it had the same feel as the Breathing Room meets Saw just not as good. It was one of those one time watches. The acting wasn't so great and the casting wasn't great either but it works for this one. Communication is the key to the survival for nine strangers who have been kidnapped by a masked gunman. They are told that one of them will die every ten minutes until they discover how they are all connected and why they are there. I give this one a 7.

Where The Wild Things Are: This was one of my all time favorite books as a child and was really excited about seeing this. I think it was amazing. This is def. one of the best new movies out there. This is a new favorite. An adolescent named Max has an active imagination, and he will throw fits if others don't go along with what he wants. Max - following an incident with his sister Claire and her friends, and following a tantrum which he throws as a result of his Mother paying more attention to her boyfriend than to him runs away from home. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination. This world, an ocean away, is inhabited by large wild beasts, including one named Carol who is much like Max himself in temperament. Instead of eating Max like they normally would with creatures of his type, the wild things befriend Max after he proclaims himself a king who can magically solve all their problems. I give this one a 10!

Shoot First And Pray You Live: This is a good movie but you have to be in the mood for it. I love westerns almost as much as I love horror so it's nice to see new school westerns. Tale of vengeance -- outlaw style -- as Red Pierre avenges the murder of his Mother and Father. Nowhere in the vast spread of the desert has there ever been a greater legend told than the bloody feud between Red Pierre and the phantom gunfighter, Bob McGurk. Red Pierre has traveled through the mountains from a Mexican monastery to avenge his dying father, who was fatally wounded by the infamous outlaw Bob McGurk. But before Pierre can have a showdown with this invincible gunman, a gang of bandits captures him. Instead of fighting them, he decides to join forces and rides on with the wild marauders. The final face-off with McGurk has been a long time coming, and Red Pierre will stop at nothing to see that justice is served. This one gets an 8.
