October 11!

Halloween recipe for today is...

Apple Crisp!

  • 10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all. Sometimes I use a little less water and a little apple cider. That's up to you.
  3. Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.

A bonus is if you want when serving add a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a little bit of carmel sauce.

Carmel Sauce

1 c. firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 c. butter

1/2 c. milk

Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Heat and stir until blended. Boil 2 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes, when you pour on top of ice cream it will start to melt, serve right away.

I love fall apple recipes, one of my favorite things about fall is making a bunch of different apple dishes!

More loot from the log... I got a book about the history of vampires and other blood suckers, I love children's books. I got a little scarecrow I named Scabs, some coloring sheets and some bug chocolates. Thanks guy, Love you!
