Movies!!!

Just for the hell of it we watch Fright Night because it is a classic from the 80's and we needed something to pass the time with. I know everyone has probley seen it. I really enjoy old horror especially from the 70's and 80's. Yes it has cheese, crappy special effects and the annoying kid who should never speak a word but that's what I love. This gets a 10 hands down. I wish all horror movies were this great!

So last night we decided to watch this movie [Rec] that I rented it. The box said "the movie that inspired Quarantine" which I have seen and liked a lot. Well once the movie started we noticed it is the same movie, the only difference is [Rec] is from Spain. Quarantine is just a remake of it. I don't mind remakes I just like to know when they are remakes. From start to end it is the same exact movie. Pretty much word for word to what everyone is wearing and doing. I mean I like them both, I just think when you remake something it could be a bit different and you should let your audience know that it is a remake. I def. love [Rec] and it gets a 10, it was very original. I knock Quarantine down to about a 7 just because I think they should have done something a little different. I like that [Rec] explained a little more at the end. I feel as Quarantine didn't so they could make a second one. I am not bagging on Quarantine, just switch it up a little. New ideas would be great. I am getting sick of remake after remake. But check them both out. I just think that I like [Rec] more.

Another movie we watched was Pontypool. It was on on-demand on comcast for 6.99 so we figured we would check it out. I really liked this one. It was nice to see something original for once, yes it is based off a novel but that's ok. A small Ontario town is effected by this virus that no one can really figure out how it is spreading or even know really what is happening. I know it may not sound that original but once you watch it you'll understand. For the most part it takes place in a radio station. I sometimes hate movies that take place in one spot like Penny Dreadful or Open Water, but this one I didn't mind so much. I really have nothing bad to say, good story line, good cast, everything just works. If you have comcast you should check it out or when it comes out rent it. I give this one a 9.3.

We just watched The Haunting In Connecticut the other day. We wanted to see it in the theater but never got around to it. I was very excited to watch it and I did end up liking it. I mean it was really well done and I think the cast was perfect. I just didn't get that feeling that you get from older horror movies like The Amityville Horror. Movies based on true events are always a little creepier then something totally made up. But I just didn't get the creepy feeling I expected to get. I just kinda knew when something was coming and at times was like ok that is kinda lame, I am not hating on it just not fully sure. I enjoyed it and I def. recommend watching it. Watching it another time I will probley like it a lot more. I just think I am not the biggest fan of new special effects when it comes to horror. This one did left me asking questions about the real family and wanting to know more. So all en all check it out. I give it a 8.9.
