Goodbye to Slice!

I loved this blog but a lot changed in the last couple years and it took a toll on me and this blog. But here I am and things are now straighten out for the most part and I really wanna get back into blogging and since I pretty much let this blog die, I decided to put it to rest for good and start a new one. So from now on I will be using http://monstermoviegirl.blogspot.com instead. Thanks for taking the time to read Slice and I hope you will be interested in checking out Monster Move Girl!

It's been too long!

I have so missed blogging, it seems as if it was one thing after another which was very annoying. After my last post a few months back our laptop went to hell and totally quit working. Well we just go a new one thank god and now I can whip this blog back into shape. I will little by little make this place a little better but I am still dealing with my broken arm so it won't be as fast as I would want it to be but I promise to work on it now that I can actually. It's nice to be back!

I swear one of these days I will get my stuff together. If it isn't one thing it is another. Since my last post I have been super busy once again. We stated working on our upstairs, trying to get things unpacked and put where they belong. I swear to you I had no idea that moving took so long. Yes the packing and moving itself seemed to go fast but the unpacking and making something your own takes so much time. We haven't even taken the time to start painting things and stuff like that, we have just been unpacking and organizing. One of the rooms we have been focusing on is my room. It's coming along, I wish we would have painted first because when I go to paint it next fall it will be a major project once again. But what can you do, everything was freshly painted when we moved in and what would be the point in taking the extra time to repaint right now when the paint is new. I can't believe that it is almost Christmas/ my birthday. I will be turning 29 on Christmas day which is a strange feeling. Normally I would have our place fully decorated by now but it just seems like I have no time because I have so much other stuff to do, plus having the new puppy doesn't leave me much time, he keeps me busy. But on to the fun stuff!

I finally started to unpack my Monster Hight dolls! I will need to reorganize them all once they are all unpacked and once I have gotten my hands on the new ones I haven't been able to find yet. I also just started collecting the trading photo card. So far I have 43 out of the 108 which isn't too bad.

Another thing I recently picked up was this great ring from Barbie Collectors. I order from there a lot since I collect Barbies and always find something I can not live without so this was one of them. It came in a super cute tiny hat box. I actually wore it on my wedding day with my Tarina Tarantino Barbie necklace.

I know I have said this a lot in the past but I promise I will get back to this whole blog thing, I just need to finish getting our home together!

My cute boys!

November 5th

I can not believe it is already November, this year has straight up flown by. On the 27 of October we had our Hallo-House-Warming. The food and drinks ended up coming together and turned out great. We had about 30 people show up, so it was the right amount of fun. I was going to make it a point to take pictures of the food and all the costumes but I am going to be honest. I was running a little late, people started showing up at 6 and than I started drinking and didn't stop so taking pictures just didn't seem that important at the time. I am just glad that everyone enjoyed their selves and loved our new house.

On Halloween day we went out and did something special 'WE GOT MARRIED'!!! We didn't want to tell anyone till after it was all done. We were going to plan a wedding and get married next Halloween but we figured instead of wasting all that money on a big wedding we would just surprise everyone this year and do something that was more us. Plus the money we will save can go to paying for a nice trip next year for our 1 year. It was a surprise to everyone especially if you know my Mister, he was never the marring type but some how I guess I broke him down. We have been together 8 years this past August so it already felt like we were married but now we have the rings and paper work that says we are. Plus when I call him my husband, he really is my husband. We are planning a bowling outing with some of our close friends to celebrate, nothing major we just like to go bowling and we have a reason to celebrate. We went to the court house early that day, god married, grabbed lunch and went home to enjoy our first year of passing out candy to trick or treaters. We didn't get that many only about 30-40 but it was super cold and rainy because of the storm so it was understandable. It was a perfect Halloween, it's probably not a lot to most people but it was totally us and we loved it.
My Mister dose not normally let pictures of him to be taken so that is why he has a silly face in each photo.

Now to top off this year something else amazing happened yesterday. We ended up getting little Bacon a little brother. We weren't planning on getting a new puppy so soon and we were planning on getting a little girl since everyone in the house is a boy except me but we accidently came across this tiny little dachshund boy. It was love at first sight for both the Mister and I. We held and cuddled him and just could leave without him so here we are. His name is Fella the Bloody and he is a mixture of black and brown with the cutest black nose. I haven't had to care for a puppy in 3 years and I forgot how hard it can be, he is only a few month old so he's so playful and in that chewing stage. But he is all kinds of sweet and lovely. He was a perfect addiction to our family.
This picture makes Fella look big but he is actually only a couple of pounds and is so tiny, that was the first time that Bacon was meeting his new baby brother.

It is almost the end of 2012 and we bought our first house which is amazing, we got married and we added a new member to our little family. Last year was so hard and the beginning of this year was a little rough but it seems to be ending with smiles and I am very thankful for what I have. Right now I am sitting here in my pretty house waiting for my husband to get home with two of the cutest dogs I know on my lap. It's a good feeling. Now that things have slowed down, don't get me wrong I still have lots to do around our house like unpacking, organizing and making it more ours but I can do that at a slower pace and actually have time to blog and some me time. I hope everyone enjoyed their month of October!

October 19th!

Happy October 19th!

I feel like a failure this Halloween, I have missed a few too many days now. I hate that I have become so busy this last year. If it isn't one thing, it is another. It is very stressful because I love having a little bit of time to do my thing. I also feel like I haven't really gotten to fully enjoy fall. We did have one super nice day the other day and we got over to the Cider Mill, it isn't fall until you get to enjoy cider and cider mill donuts from the Cider Mill. Still working on trying to get things ready for our Hallow-House-Warming. I haven't had the time to work on the basement or upstairs so those areas are off limits but the main floor is coming together. I still need to get my menu together and finish my costume. I decided to take the easy route with a costume this year and decided to go as the puppet from the Saw movies, I needed something fast and as cheap as possible since I have had to buy so many other things recently. As stressful as things have been the last two years I am very much enjoying where it's head. I promise one of these days I will get all my ducks in a row and make this a way better blog. I hope everyone is enjoying their fall of 2012.

HALLOWEEN CRAFTS

Ghostly Book Pop-Ups

Make a spooky centerpiece from a stack of old books and some pop-up ghostly shapes. To make this project, cut two basic ghost shapes from pages in the middle of a book, leaving the bottoms attached to their pages. Hold up each ghost with a touch of tape. To complete this haunting centerpiece, use a hole punch or marker to make eyes for each ghost.

Pumpkin Garland
Take a step back in time with a vintage-inspired garland. Search the Internet for free vintage Halloween clip art. Print your favorite images on cardstock, cut out, punch a hole on each side, and string together with orange ribbon. Hang the garland on your fireplace mantel, inside a window, or along the edge of a table as shown here. (PS: Our table is covered with a length of sheer black Halloween fabric over an inexpensive white plastic tablecloth.)

DIY Paper Bat Artwork
This colorful specimen board is sure to draw attention when hung in your home for Halloween. To make, use a die-cutting tool or a bat punch to make 24 bat shapes from assorted scrapbooking-paper colors and patterns. Bend the wings slightly to create a multidimensional look. Cover a 12-inch cardboard or plywood square with even-weave fabric, taping excess fabric on the back. Stack two adhesive dots on the back of each bat, and press bats onto the fabric-covered square. Remove the backing from the frame, and attach specimen board to the backing with hook-and-loop squares.

Spooky Bat Silhouettes
Haunt your house -- or at least your windows -- with paper bats flying every which way. Cut several sizes of bats from black poster board. Tape fishing line at different spots on the backs and heads; hang the lines from a drapery rod or cup hooks.

Bat Mobile
Trace our bat templates onto black card stock; cut them out and fold them according to template instructions. Make a small hole in the center of each bat with a tack. Poke a piece of thread through each hole, and knot it. Tie the bats to a found branch (painting it black is optional). Then hang the branch from two pieces of thread secured to the top of the window with flat thumbtacks.

Hanging Vellum Halloween Lanterns

1. Print and cut out a lantern template (see the second page of the owl and witch templates for the correct hanging-lantern templates). Trace template four times, side by side, on black paper as shown (use 2 sheets if needed); with a bone folder, crease where sides meet. Cut out.
2. Print 4 copies of a design (try the cat, hissing cat, moon, owl, or witch clip art available above) onto vellum; a laser printer works best. Cut each piece just larger than frame "windows." Tape vellum into frame. Form into lamp shape; tape edges.
3. Cut a 26-inch length of wire. In the middle, twist a loop. Poke the wire ends through paper to make 2 holes at edge of lantern. Use pliers to roll ends of wire to secure. Use monofilament to hang 2 battery-operated votive candles, taped end to end, inside the lantern.
4. Use twine and removable adhesive hangers to suspend the lanterns.

October 9th!

Happy October 9th!

I can't believe that I missed another day but to be honest this month is seriously overly busy. I feel like I am going to lose my mind and not get anything done that actually needs to be done. I also feel like I am not getting to enjoy October as much as I would like too. Even when we go out to do fun things we end up having to be in a hurry so we are not getting to enjoy it fully. Plus trying to have a party at the end of the month and something else major going on at the end of the month, the time is just flying by. Yesterday we did take the time to sit down and enjoy Halloween III : Season of the Witch on blu-ray. But besides that we haven't really sat down and watched a lot of horror movies like we usually do. I still have tons to unpack, I am just going to make sure the basement and second floor are off limits at the party so no one knows we have a million other boxes to unpack. I still need to figure out what I want to make and everything else. Well now I am gonna go and try and get a few more things done. I will have a better update tomorrow!

Movie pick for tonight!

Night of the Creep (1986) : Two nerdy guys try and  steal a corpse from the campus medical facility  as a prank. They end up releasing a horde of space-leeches, which proceed to infest the bodies of everyone in sight. The host bodies subsequently become homicidal zombies with a penchant for popping in on unsuspecting sorority girls. The town's only hope seems to be a hard-boiled ex-cop who has uncovered the secret link between the zombie invasion and a 30-year-old axe-murder case.

October 7th!

Happy October 7th!

I totally forgot to do a post yesterday. It was actually going to be a busy Saturday but since the Mister and I were both feeling run down we decided to say home and be lazy instead of going to the Halloween art show. I'm a little bummed we didn't go but it was nice to actually stay home and not be on the go. Lazy is exactly what we did, we did a few things around the house and the rest of the day was spent napping, playing video games, watching stuff and just being lazy. Today on the other hand we got up at 7:00 am so we could go to a fleamarket. It was one we have never checked out but totally glad we did. They had to have 300 plus venders and there was everything you could possibly find. Some of the people had good prices and others not to much. There was lots I wanted but I wasn't willing to pay the prices. I ended up with a few toys I wanted and a few vintage Halloween items which is the main thing I go to fleamarkets anyways. The Mister just found some used video games. It was a cold but a good day at the Fall fleamarket. I can not wait for Spring to get here so we can go back!
These were the toys I picked up, not that I needed plushies but I couldn't leave them behind.

I just got the vintage skeleton candle today and the frankenstein monster candle last month but they were from the same vender and perfect for my collection.

These are some vintage cake toppers and I got 6 little vintage paper pumpkins.

I also got this cute guy, I love the Frankenstein monster and loved the packaging plus I got a great deal on him.

These were a few goodies we picked up at Target on the way home, we also got another skull rug and a few other things that I can't think of at the moment.

Today's gift, plus hello Kitty Halloween Jelly Belly's that I ate on the way to the fleamarket. Yesterday's gift was a Halloween Hello Kitty coloring book and Friday's was a pumpkin shirt and a candy thing. I love that the Mister gives be a gift every day of October. It's the one things he does no matter what since we have been together, he's pretty amazing.

Movie Pick to tonight!

Never Cry Werewolf (2008) : Jared Martin moves next door to the Hansetts, along with his hot motorcycle and eerie, ill-tempered dog. Although everyone else in the neighborhood takes an instant liking to him, Loren Hansett can't get over the bad vibes her new neighbor gives her. She starts to spy on his nocturnal activities and comes to believe that a recent killing might the work of a werewolf who happens to be her new neighbor. Her internet surfing provides a lot of collaborative detail but everyone but her friend Steven dismiss her story as teen-aged fantasy. Fearing for her life, she convinces Steven to take her to a gun shop to buy silver bullets in a gun shop, where their neighbor's supernatural dog attacks. When she dispatches the beast, her actions get the attention of Redd Tucker, a washed-up TV hunting show host to believe her as well. When Steven is attacked by the werewolf and Loren's brother goes missing, she and Redd team up to kill the lycanthrope before he can finish them both off.

October 5th!

Happy October 5th!

Picked up a few more Halloween goodies from Khol's today.
We got this cute skull dip bowl and it has a bone spreader, I will probably pick up another one soon.

We got these cute ornaments for our tree.

We also picked up this treat jar, they had a bigger one and I can't remember what it said but I will probably pick that one up as well. They also had these cute decorative bottles but I decided since they has so many I would go back closer to Halloween and they might be cheaper at least that's what I am hopping for. Plus there was something the Mister wanted but didn't get so I figured I could go get it and surprise him.

Spinach Ricotta Skulls

Ingredients
1 container (15 ounces) part-skim ricotta cheese
Olive-oil, cooking spray
1 bunch fresh spinach (or a 10-ounce bag), stems removed, washed well and dried
1 1/2 cups loosely packed fresh basil leaves (from 1 bunch)
1/4 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
Coarse salt and fresh ground pepper
2 large whole eggs, plus 1 egg white
Crackers, for serving
Directions
1. Wrap ricotta tightly in cheesecloth; place in a colander over a large bowl. Place a heavy object (such as a bowl or canned good) on top; let drain in the refrigerator at least 3 hours (or up to overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 10-inch springform pan with cooking spray. In a food processor, combine drained ricotta, spinach, basil, nutmeg, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Process until smooth, about 1 minute, scraping sides of bowl as needed. Add whole eggs and egg white; process for 5 seconds. Pour mixture into prepared pan; bake until set and just brown around the edges, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate, covered, until cold, preferably overnight. To unmold, run a paring knife around edge before removing side of pan.
3. Cut into quarters. Using a wide spatula, transfer to a cutting board coated with cooking spray. Cut out shapes with a skull-shaped cookie cutter coated with spray (if cutter doesn't come with eyes and a mouth, use aspic cutters to make features). Using a cotton swab, gently press skulls out directly onto crackers (leave eye and nose shapes in cutter).
Cook's Note
Be sure spinach is completely dry. Frozen spinach can be substituted for fresh: cook, drain, and press excess moisture from a colander.

Movie pick for tonight!

Pumpkinhead II : Blood Wings (1994) : After a group of teenagers indirectly cause an old witch to be burned, they accidently revive Pumpkinhead. This time Pumpkinhead is inhabited by the soul of a deformed orphan killed 30 years before. He goes on a bloody rampage after his tormentors and the teenagers. Meanwhile, a local sheriff tries to solve the mystery and stop the murders.
